This is the Blog of ENSMA ENGLISH DAY FESTIVAL 2009. I have created it just for you! Herein you are going to find special information, videos, pictures, activities, and more things, specifically related to our First English Day.
The English Day Festival is a long-awaited meeting which takes place in the frame of the week of knowledge and where students can travel the world visiting different countries located in the classrooms and other spaces of the school. On this day, and during the morning, pupils enjoy with the games, workshops, plays, songs, gymkhana, and contests, that other mates have prepared. At the end of the morning is time to give awards to the winners of the different activities carried out along the Festival. During the journey around the world of English, we hear the English Day song, specially created and sung by our students. At the end of the morning and as a closure, we have a musical performance of our students. This activity is also an excuse for the other teachers, not just English teachers, to explore the world of that language, using it and helping our students to employ it in topics related to subjects such as Mathematics, Science, Geography, Spanish, Music, Arts, and Sports.
So, the English Day Festival is an activity based on the exchange of experiences, among teachers and among pupils, where that foreign language is the star. It is an event which fights to be a fully consolidated activity in the field of education in our context.
This year is the 2nd edition and we intend to come up with new activities. The English Day looks for the development of communication skills in that language, this year not just in our school, but in others as well as in our universities, by performing a full English language immersion where students could apply the new learning experiences lived in the classroom, oriented under a pioneering conception of foreign languages teaching, in the area of Samarian identity.
